Clarinettist and saxophonist Louis Sclavis' first ECM album (recorded in 1991) brims with ideas and creates something new at the intersection of jazz and chamber music. Compositions and arrangements on Rouge take unexpected turns and keep the listener in suspense. With their inspired dialogues at the front of the highly disciplined band, Sclavis and Dominique Pifarély established themselves as two of the most original voices on the European improvisation scene by far.

In 2019, ECM celebrates 50 years of continuous independent music production, an anniversary that provides an opportunity to take a look at the path so far. The Touchstones series celebrates albums made over this long period of time with their re-releases. It contains many recordings that are now considered milestones in the history of jazz and improvisation.

50 Touchstones will be released in 2019: the first 25 in January, another 25 in May. A first collection of Touchstones was released for ECM's 40th birthday and received much acclaim. Just like ten years ago, the 2019 re-releases offer what made ECM famous: the great music, the stunning sound and the original graphics.
