Three years after the sensational success of their debut album »Sigh No More«, which has sold more than 2.3 million copies to date, Markus Dravs is once again responsible for the production.

The album cover shows the band (Marcus Mumford, Winston Marshall, Ben Lovett & Ted Dwane) at an English party with babies, beer and a horse. A number of songs on the LP were written during previous Mumford & Sons tours and made their live debuts. The Londoners had to interrupt their tours unplanned in the last few months: First, frontman Marcus Mumford married the English actress Carey Mulligan in April and shortly afterwards broke his hand in June 2012.

“We are beyond thrilled to release Babel into the world. We started writing new songs long before we went into the studio to record them. At first we reluctantly retired from the streets. We love playing live, of course, but it had also become an important part of our creative process, writing and rehearsing at soundchecks and testing new songs on the street, so to speak, on our very benevolent audience." But then we fell in love with recording again. The album began to take shape and with the renewed help of Markus Dravs (and engineer Robin Baynton) we began to enjoy the challenge of making this album. As a band we've never been so close or worked so well together, each on their strengths.
