Elvin Jones is one of the most influential drummers in jazz, not least because of his longstanding collaboration with John Coltrane. A few years ago, Rolling Stone ranked Jones 23rd on their list of the 100 Greatest Drummers of All Time. The previously unreleased recordings, now known as Revival: Live at Pookie's Pub, show Jones' reunion as a leader two weeks after Coltrane's death, recorded live in July 1967 in New York City with saxophonist Joe Farrell, pianist Billy Greene and bassist Wilbur Little.
The deluxe 180g 3 LP set includes a booklet with photos by Francis Wolff and others, as well as essays by GRAMMY-winning author Ashley Kahn, producers Zev Feldman and Don Was, sound engineer Bob Falesch and others
