Mingus, Charles - Presents Charles Mingus - LP 180 Gr.

In 1960, celebrated jazz critic Nat Hentoff approached Charles Mingus with a commission to record some sessions for the new Candid label. Mingus was given absolutely free rein in every respect.

The result of the first recordings was released under the title Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus (Candid CJM8005) and appears here with two additional tracks to round out the session.

The band consisted of trumpeter Ted Curson, alto saxophonist Eric Dolphy (also played bass clarinet on one track), Mingus on bass and drummer Dannie Richmond.
