On "Lucky Four" jazz saxophonist David Murray presents a rousing session together with Wilber Morris (bass), Dave Burrell (piano) and Victor Lewis (drums). Recorded in 1988, it fits beautifully into Murray's strong lineup of quartet works from the late 1980s. Bluesy and peppered with varied melodies and rhythms through to tango, Murray, who comes from California, shows his diverse skills as a soloist and master of improvisation. "Abel's Blissed Out Blues", which begins gently and develops into a stormy two-step, composed by Dave Burrell, is the highlight on "Lucky Four". Re-mastered by Cicely Baston, Alchemy / Air Mastering.
