VINILO NUEVO. SPEAKERS CORNER MONO EDITION.

1964, the first Berlin Jazz Days: the highlight Friday, September 25th: last concert of the night: Miles Davis. It is logical that Columbia's European subsidiary, CBS, released an LP of this legendary event.

The new quintet, featuring Wayne Shorter on tenor sax for the first time – and not yet as composer – captivated and provoked the Philharmonie audience from the first to the last second. The classics "Miles(tones)", "So What" and "Walkin'" were played in incredibly fast meter, the ballads are tender and dreamy. Subsequent concerts rarely produced such a mysterious mood, thanks in part to the excellent acoustics of the great hall. Since there was also an audience behind the stage, Miles could not provocatively turn his back on anyone; so he just crouched down in between. But that didn't prevent him from making his solos lyrical and delicate, mostly in the finest nuances at low volume, audible from every angle. The rhythmic design by the young drummer Anthony Williams gives them the necessary tension. Miles in top form, an enthusiastic audience, captivating room acoustics, plus convincing recording technology and a super pressing on virgin vinyl - what more could a jazz lover want?? So pull out the credit card!
