Oscar Peterson, long-time companion at Brunner-Schwer, acts on the keys as a counterpart to the Chicago vocal architects. In Tune (1971) is the first TSU album on MPS and lives from the sophisticated dialogue between the two musical poles: whether in the swinging togetherness of the opener Sesame Street or in the change from the almost devotional, orchestrally layered choral intro to the sparkling playing of Peterson in It Never Entered My Mind, and also in the dreamy arrangement of The Shadow Of Your Smile, in which Peterson, as a delicate accompanist, limits himself to the essentials.

TSU soprano Bonnie Herman and the pianist meet as soloists in the nostalgic Michel Legrand ballad Once Upon A Summertime. Finally, the two Brazilian excursions are also highlights: In Tom Jobim's Children's Game, TSU deliver syllable-less embellishments to Peterson's high-spirited waltz mood, in Luis Bonfá's The Gentle Rain the keys play around the amorous choral harmonies.
